Shut your Mac down, don’t get up...
I bought an Apple Mac Mini to use as a media center. Apple ships OS X Leopard with Front Row, which is great, except I found an important feature lacking: you need a keyboard to shut your Apple down. Not what you want in a chique remote controlled home cinema setting. I made a Shut Down plug-in for Front Row. It appears there are a lot of people that don’t want to get up to switch off their Mac up after watching a movie!
Front Row Plugin Pricing
IMPORTANT: The plugin is free. To support my work you can donate using the donate page or the button on the right, but if you choose not to donate I do ask that you leave message in the Guestbook. It’s easy.
OS X Compatibility
The plugin works on both Intel and PPC Macs running Apple OS X Leopard.
The plugin does not work in combination with the PyeTV plugin.
I don’t know if the plugin works with the AppleTV, if you have one, give it a try and let me know. This plugin is not compatible with Snow Leopard. The framework used to build this is not compatible. Besides, I don't have Snow Leopard and to be honest, after reading all the glitches and problems that are still there (as seems to be normal in the early .0 .1 and .2 versions), I don't want it either (at least not yet).
Credits
Searching the web pointed me in the direction of the programming language Python. Easy to learn, give it a try if you like programming: I made this plugin within a week after seeing Python code for the first time. I adapted the FrontPython code a bit and created an icon, so the rest of the credits go FrontPython.
Along the way Andreas Wahlström helped me to start with the localization. Thanks to Jon Cristopher for helping to sort part of the conflicts with other FrontRow plugins that use the same source-code. |
